Tasty Riddles

————————————————

I created the concept of a set of trading-themed riddles as an engagement tool for social media, paid banner ads on Yahoo Finance and YouTube, and bumpers on the network.

The final products would have the questions and answers isolated. On social media, you’d see the question as a still image, which, when clicked would reveal the answer in video format—same idea with banner ads, but in this case would take people directly to the tastytrade website along with the answer. In the case of network bumpers, the question and answer would be split between commercial breaks, to keep viewers tuned in.

To the right is a stop motion pitch video I created as a design concept for production to follow, and below is my list of riddles.

List of Riddles

When I’m performed, my victims choke and cough;

But when I’m placed, there’s room to move to get a payoff.

What am I?

I’m great to help old friends catch up,

But if things go south, I could be a real screw-up.

What am I?

I hate a trend, so I go the other way instead,

And I rarely show the top of my head.

What am I?

You often have many of us, but can only choose one;

Up, down, sideways—with us you’ve usually won.

What are we?

I’m animal and mineral, but certainly not vegetable;

Within me, a bit of optimism is very much detectable.

What am I?

I’m a 10 out of 10 when you roll a ball;

But in trading, crossing me could be your downfall.

What am I?

In terms of error, I’m always plus or minus x,

And when I’m implemented, in buying power you’ll see some effects.

What am I?

We’ve been players throughout history in philosophy, culture, and mathematics,

But we’ll also help guide you through your option mechanics.

What are we?

I’m a normal bodily function, sometimes considered rude,

But I’m also a tradable instrument, an alternative to Crude.

What am I?

I help you visit faraway lands with family in tow,

And sometimes I even tell you what direction you want to go.

What am I?

In fish form, I’m fit and feisty—I float but also box;

And when it comes to trading, I’ll help you correlate two stocks.

What am I?

In the office, when I’m bad, morale and productivity are thin,

But in trading, when I’m done deftly ... your loss might turn into a win.

What am I?

If a teacher gives too many of me, they’ll likely be met with sedition;

While in trading, if I happen, you’ll be long or short a new position.

What am I?

I move through the dark, night’s not an issue for me;

While on tastytrade, I mock my old pal, whom I know from the CBOE.

What am I?

When I arrive, what was is done;

And perhaps you’ve lost or perhaps you’ve won.

What am I?

When I’m done on a horse, you can ride away fancy-free,

But when done with a stock that goes too far, loss I surely foresee.

What am I?

In reality I may not be so flightworthy—I’d probably sink over soar;

But as a neutral strategy, if you’re right, I have some nice profits in store.

What am I?

If we exist, we’ve happened—that’s surely plain to see;

And the more of us you have on, the happier you’ll be.

What are we?

I can be a delicious smorgasbord—on a table, for instance;

One thing’s for sure, you should collect a third of my distance.

What am I?

The clock's ticking on, my pages are turning;

When theta creeps by, more profits you’ll be earning.

What am I?

In the forest I latch on, wearing shorts is imprudent;

While in trading I’m harmless—I just describe a price movement.

What am I?

A little kid might yell me out when Grandma’s out of sight;

And I’m the reason you should have rolled at 21 DTE, in hindsight.

What am I?

I can describe a spontaneous stroll, delightful and unplanned;

Or I can describe how markets move short term: pointless to try to understand.

But we also mean collapses of IV, with market moves being fewer.

What are we?

But I’m also the odds of making money, specifically on a trade.

What am I?

What am I?

If you learn me for yourself, you can fight off an assaulter;

While in trading, if you use me, your losses you can alter.

What am I?
